How We Are Different From the Franchises |

This section is designed to enlighten you on our obvious differences when compared to franchise programs, but first we want to point out some similarities...
We are similar to a franchise in the following ways:
- We have a turn-key system.
- We provide you with marketing support and materials to help you build your business,
- You have tremendous on-going support from us including weekly teleconferences, buddy coaches, mentors, and members-only forums, websites and toolboxes.
- Neither us nor a franchise can guarantee your success. We are there to train you, support you, provide you with tools, mentor you... but it will be up to YOU to make it work.
However, we are unlike a franchise in the following ways:
- LOWER COST frees up your money to grow your business - and enjoy your life!
- NO MONTHLY ROYALTIES! Why would you want to hand over a flat-rate and/or percentage of your hard-earned money?
- NO LONG-TERM BINDING CONTRACT. You have much more freedom and choices with your life.
- NOT BOUND BY NON-COMPETE AGREMENTS. Most franchises will not allow you to continue to coach or consult if you terminate your relationship with them.
- NO GEOGRAPHICAL AREA RESTRICTION. This is important because many coaches provide their service via phone or teleconference.
- FREEDOM TO INNOVATE. You are not required to use our systems which are time-tested, proven recommendations used with our clients. You are free to design your own systems to work with your own niche or client base, while using us as reference.
- TOTAL INDEPENDENCE AND CONTROL over your own business. You will have your own name and can build the value of YOUR business not working to build the value of a franchisor!
- NO GROWTH RESTRICTIONS. You can grow your business without being required to pay an additional "sub-franchise" fee for each coach you may add to your practice.
Just take a second to compare these two options... For the cost of simply JOINING some of the more expensive franchises, you can:

- Join the Professional Business Coaches Alliance, and...
- Pay your mortgage for a year, and...
- Rent an office for a year, and...
- Beautifully furnish your office, and...
- Buy office equipment, computers and supplies, and...
- Have a $1,000 / month marketing budget, and...
- Hire a part-time assistant, and...
- Take your family on a cruise to Hawaii, and...
- STILL have an extra $20K!!!
Sure - some of the other franchises are less expensive. However they all still get your money in the end with their license fees, training fees, royalties, and long-term contracts.

If you are still intrigued by the franchise model - probably due to misinformation like the "advantage" of being a franchisee vs. starting your own business (not true by the way - see this CNN article: Risk/Reward: Executives who think it’s safer to buy a franchise than start a business need to think again.) - we have provided some questions below for you to ask your franchisor's sales rep:

How many coaches have they TRAINED since their inception? (Some franchises resell the licenses of failed franchisees multiple times to make their success rate appear better. Be sure to ask for the number TRAINED.)

How many are active today? (A good measure of this is the number of royalty checks received in the prior month.)

What is the average and median revenues of their franchisees overall and by year? (Some will tell you that it is illegal to provide this information. This is not true. They can - but they must have proof! See if they provide it by looking at Item 19 in the UDD.)

Are you required to sign a non-compete that disallows you from coaching/consulting if it doesn't work out with them?

Are you limited geographically to whom you can coach?

Are you protected geographically from them selling franchises in your area?

Who is your direct support - and what experience do they have in running a coaching business that will be similar to yours?
OK - you get it - we are different from the others. But how do you know that it will work for you?
